Stands for Juan's Mindset Method Dance Co. ,
A tribute to Juan C. Vasquez a dedicated mental health social worker whose passion for Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) shaped my life and teaching philosophy. His guidance instilled in me the value of using SEL to empower others, a principle I embraced from the age of 15 when I began teaching dance.
With years of experience
working with people of ALL walks of life,
I recognized the profound impact that combining SEL with movement could have. This realization inspired me to create the JMM Dance Method, a unique approach that integrates dance with Social-Emotional Learning. Through this method, students develop essential life skills like emotional regulation, empathy, and teamwork-all while exploring the joy of creative movement.
Our History
JMM Dance Co. was established in 2017
With the mission of promoting social-emotional learning (SEL) through the medium of dance. Our founder, drawing from years of experience in dance instruction and studio ownership, recognized the transformative potential of dance for emotional healing, release of generational trauma and development.
Identifying a disparity in access to these opportunities among individuals facing socio-economic, physical, emotional, or mental challenges, she founded JMM Dance Co. to bridge this gap. Under her visionary leadership, JMM Dance Co. has become a symbol of inclusivity and creativity within the dance community.
Our Mission
At JMM Dance Co., we bring Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) to life through movement. Inspired by the legacy of Juan C. Vasquez, a dedicated mental health social worker,
we are committed to building inclusive, trauma-informed dance programs that promote healing, emotional intelligence, and belonging.
Founded to challenge exclusionary arts systems, we center neurodivergent, BIPOC, and low-income youth—redefining dance as a tool for empowerment and mental wellness. We partner with schools, city agencies, and regional centers to create safe spaces where students, educators, and communities can thrive through movement.
